Our Story.

Welcome to Bakermans of Fendalton an European-inspired family bakery in Christchurch.

Bakermans began with a love story in this very shop, where our journey first started. Years later, we returned as proud owners — Peter and Yvonne Bakermans — bringing new life to a place rich in history and heart.

Today, this much-loved local café continues to blend European charm with warm Kiwi hospitality, offering a welcoming space for the community to gather, connect, and enjoy. In 2024 a new chapter of the Bakermans story, the bakery has been thoughtfully purchased by the next generation — Jordan Bakermans — along with Kelly Schroeder, a treasured family friend and original baker apprentice.

Together, they carry forward the spirit and tradition of Bakermans with fresh energy and the same dedication to quality and care. From classic croquettes and savoury quiches to our famous Dutch apple pie and indulgent chocolate caramel slice, everything is made with love — from our family to yours.

1. Order any Pie, Cake, or collection of delicious goods online 48 hours ahead

2. We'll make them to order

3. We'll notify you when its ready for collection (we do not offer deliveries) in store - This will be within 48 hours (if ordered before 3pm) or on your specified date.

At Bakermans we serve the finest quality Pomeroy's coffee. Pomeroy's source the highest grade of Arabica beans from all of the world and roast them right here in the South Island, in Nelson. Come in, take a seat and enjoy a smooth delicious coffee with your favourite Bakermans' treat.

Welcome to our family run Bakery & Cafe located in Christchurch near the airport.

We'd love to welcome you to our bakery and cafe for a delicious coffee and delectable bite to eat. We've got everything you need from croquettes to savouries, from battenburg to sandwiches and family size savoury and fruit pies.
